CV Joint Problems

Most often, the outer CV-joint boots fail first because they must endure more motion than inner ones. CV boots are generally examined during maintenance intervals. Your mechanic will search for tears, cracks in the CV boot, loose clamps on the CV and other damages.

Signs of a Damaged CV-joint Boot

If the vehicle continues to be driven using an unsound CV joint boot the CV joint is likely to wear out and then fail. The most frequent sign of a worn-out CV joint can be heard as a popping or clicking sound that occurs during a turn. The noise becomes louder when you accelerate during turns. In extreme cases, an outer CV joint that is worn badly joint may even fail during driving, which can cause a dangerous situation. CV Joint Repairs
